Preco’s Safety Alert Systems, or SAS, are evolving safety for the 21st century. Previously, safety warning systems on vehicles were passive and did not provide operator notification of an impending accident or worse, fatality. By coupling Preco’s proven PreView™ collision Warning System with traditional passive warning devices such as back-up alarms, safety lights, and cameras, safety is significantly improved and accidents are reduced.

The SAS works on a very simple principle, provide warning only when necessary to the operator and bystanders. This idea increases operator awareness, which can stop the action, and awareness of those around the equipment without creating desensitization.

When an object, stationary or moving, is within the PreView detection zone, the operator receives a warning on the in-cab display, also an internal relay on the PreView system activates which can trigger a back-up alarm, safety light, and/or camera. By triggering the safety systems only when necessary this significantly reduces work site desensitization related to continuous back-up alarms, flashing safety lights, and questions of when to look at the camera system.
